If you've got skills that are in demand then you should stand a reasonable chance of getting a job if you're qualified and have the necessary experience.

Best advice though is to use the network, if you know someone who's already working over there see if they can put in a good word for you. Sometimes its who you know....good luck.
In my company there are many nationalities, chinese, indians, east europeans. At work you have to make an effort to integrate .

You don't need a degree

Mr Platty doesn't have one, he was approached by a NZ agency to work for Alcatel Lucent, all he needs now is for the references to be approved and we are off

3 out of 4 isn't too bad

a Degree is an advantage/is preferable especially if you are not a NZ citizen/from Asia.

possibly it depends on which position you apply

but you should aware "There aren't many entry level/graduate IT positions in nz"

some senior decent IT positions - as an asian who speak English as a second language with no degree but with experiences = a little chance

People(asians) who I know "proved"

I'm sure to get slated for this, but hey ho the truth sometimes has to hurt. Kiwi companies and employers, particularly old school are inherantly racist and would rather not take on a new Asian immigrant unless they absolutely have to. Once you're here and proved yourself in language skills etc it will be fine.

I have experience many, many comments from recruitment consultants and the like, and the story is always the same. The basic recommendation is that if you have a particularly Asian sounding name, that you should change it to a Western name or translate your name into an English equivalent. First impresions can save your CV from getting binned at the first hurdle.

One recruitment consultant told me that words to the effect of:

Only NZ Resident and Citizens need apply
are stated to stop 'bloody Asians' from applying, but of course it will not apply to you, being English you are almost as good as us. :curse:
