Both my parents gonna receive their super (from next month) in Nz... they don't really want to move elsewhere..

dunno where my life is heading..

I still cant get people coming on here and constantly bagging NZ and how bad it is.

Nobody forces people to emigrate here, we all chose to do it and I would assume we all did some research before selling up in our home countries and moving here to start a new life.

I am actually paid more here than I was in the UK so i have no complaints at all, yes the food can be expensive and petrol is a pain in the ass the way it goes up and down like a pair on knickers on manchester street but i firmly believe we have a better life here in NZ that we did and could have back in Scotland, so come on lets get behind NZ a little more and stop slagging it off so much, i mean it could be worse, we could all be English .............. (im kidding before i get the flood of complaints )

Here here, (removed the English bit of the quote!! ) and this coming from someone (Alanmacc) living not too far from the now active Darfield Fault

My job has changed forever here as a result of the quake, but I still love it too. However, I also understand that sometimes it's just not possible for those who decide it's not for them to leave, for example we were sponsored to come here by way of shipping costs, going back we would have to pay our own.........etc

It's called balance. It's called having a discussion. It's called airing your valid opinions. It's called airing problems that prevail. It's about letting people know the good AND the bad. Are you being forced to read this thread? Just move on to the next one if you are too sensitive eh?

Touchy, I read it that he just felt the thread was...well out of balance too far one way, I didn't read it as he was anything like "offended"....

You seemed to take it as you being barracked. Then you complain about others being sensitive????

This is an open forum. It is a sad day when people start being the 'forum police'. It is not about me being sensitive about me OR my threads, it is annoyance when people don't get it when you simply give truthful, evidence based facts about something (in this case shite about NZ) and they 'don't understand it'. WTF? Surely without being grossly offensive I can post what views I like about NZ. And I don't need anyone telling me otherwise. It is daft being sensitive about a whole frigging country.

Hang on! Genesis posed a question in the thread title, and then proceeded to state his point of view. Others have agreed, and there have been various ideas shared.

If you don't agree with his answer to his own question, then put forward your own.

I'll get my coat, and retire to the bar - I think I'm in need of a drink, I just seem to have agreed with something Genesis has posted (for once ) but before I go, I'll just quietly mention the fact that there are a number of members here who, for various reasons, have ended up in NZ 'by accident', and do have issues with not being able to leave - please treat their views/experiences with the same sort of respect that is given to the 'happy clappers'.

Maybe because they think its IS crap? Is your opinion so much more important than anyone elses? Maybe your life is better than you could have Scotland, but we dont all come from Scotland do we?

Nobody forces people to emigrate here, we all chose to do it and I would assume we all did some research before selling up in our home countries and moving here to start a new life.
So now your research skills are so much better than everyone elses too? Yes Im sure most people did some 'research'. Like me, they probably visited here as well, and I even had an extended period here. But none of that can fully prepare you for what you find when you emigrate, and part of the point of sites like this is to be an antidote to the total unfactual and misleading spin that NZ puts on itself, and the unreasonable and false image that it has overseas.

If I could get out of here tommorrow, I wouldnt go and live in Glasgow, but I WOULD go and live in the south of England
