NZ Tax
Hi,
There were some figures published before on here which gave the tax bands based on income etc. Anyone know what they are? Trying to work out the take-home on 100k?

Re: NZ Tax
Hi there
Am reading a book called 'Emigration to New Zealand' by Steve Horrell and there's a section in there about Tax levels which says:
In NZ $ (exchange assumed to be $2.65 to £1 sterling)
Up to $38,000 - Tax rate of 19.5%
$38,001 to $60,000 - Tax rate of 33%
$60,001 and over - Tax rate of 39%
Hope this helps a bit

Hi, I've read that book too, good isn't it, although after visiting last week some bits seem a bit out-dated. Like shops not being open sundays, there is no fashion, guess it depends on what you call fashion..etc...

Re: NZ Tax
Lots of really useful tax info on the IRD site http://www.ird.govt.nz
There will be a change in rates from october 2008 so see below for the old and new rates, hope this is usefull.
Snyffa x
Personal income tax rates
The low income rebate has been removed from the 2008/09 tax year and a new bottom tax rate of 12.5% on income up to $14,000 introduced. Income thresholds for the 21%, 33% and 39% rates also increase over the next three and a half years, as set out below.
Current rates New rates from 1 October 2008
Income to $9,500 15%* Income to $14,000 12.5%
$9,501 - $38,000 21%* $14,001 - $40,000 21%
$38,001 - $60,000 33% $40,001 - $70,000 33%
$60,001 and over 39% $70,001 and over 39%
*Includes the low income rebate. The statutory rate on income under $38,000 is 19.5%. The low income rebate gave an effective rate of 15% for income under $9,500 and 21% for income between $9,501 and $38,000.
From 1 April 2010 From 1 April 2011
Income to $17,500 12.5% Income to $20,000 12.5%
$17,501 - $40,000 21% $20,001 - $42,500 21%
$40,001 - $75,000 33% $42,501 - $80,000 33%
$75,001 and over 39% $80,001 and over 39%
The introduction of new income tax rates part-way through the income year means an average of the new and old rates needs to be applied. These are called composite rates and represent the actual amount of income tax that applies in the 2008/09 income year.
