NZ Police Harassment in Palmy
A North Island police station received this question from a resident through the feedback section of a local Police website: “I would like to know how it is possible for police officers to continually harass people and get away with it?”
In response, a sergeant posted this reply:
First of all, let me tell you this ... it’s not easy. In the Palmerston North and rural area we average one cop for every 505 people. Only about 60 per cent of those cops are on general duty (or what you might refer to as “general patrols”) where we do most of our harassing.

The only time I have ever been harrassed by plod was when I was one..by some of my awful, psychotic, unhinged colleagues.
I used to say as a copper............. I was hated, stabbed in the back and abused, when I left the station however normality and decent behaviour prevailed! And all that abuse because I wanted to do the job properly..nice one.
Way too many knobs in one certain police station.

I hardly ever spoke to a copper in the UK but have been stopped soooo many times over here that it's been very amusing. I've never done anything wrong BTW. Just seem to get stopped for smiling at them

Never ever been 'harrassed' by plod in NZ. But that may well be because of the fact that I stop and STOP signs, don't drive around at mainiacal speeds, don't drink and drive, indicate when supposed to, don't EVER text or answer a mobile on the go. Basically I drive with respect, care and diligence. I wonder if the harrassment is relative to matters driving?
