- highest to lowest CEO pay probably spans a ratio of 100,000:1 in the US for example, so your ratio of 1:10 pales into insignificance in that range...indeed such a ratio between proposed CEO pay rates probably indicates the two companies were NOT comparable.

CEO's may operate in a global market, still doesn't mean you are all worth the same or that every company can afford some empirical global minimum CEO wage. Laughable concept really...

I am surprised that there is such a big difference on CEO level between NZ and OZ. I thought it would be less considering the fact that NZ is an extremely unequal society and people on the top here usu
ally really work the system very well.

I am not going to waste my time explaining realities of inter tasman pay differences.

It is what it is.

You work in New Zealand you suffer the financial consequences

Do you see Australian companies jumping at the chance for a NZ Listing or IPO

Quite a relief then. But if you wander into threads and make statements, you can hardly blame people if they ask for a more expansive answer.

I like both countries. Being an NZ'er and getting on in years, we'll be staying put here - moving back from the UK after almost a decade was enough for me.

If we were younger though, we'd look at Australia.

My dad always encouraged us to move to Australia when we were younger. A lot of our extended family moved there 30+ years ago.

I think both countries are great, but Australia does have the edge in living standards.
