Re: NZ FORMAT CV

Hi all
not sure if this has already been asked but has anything changed in terms of what format is required? I've been compiling what I've called a full detailed CV so I can pick the best bits from it so to speak for a shortened version. Does anyone have an accepted template?
Cheers

I would say just tailoring it to the job, no more than 2 pages, if you need to go longer than have a on line version they could look at if they want to read more about you.
Make sure any social media sites are not full of socially unacceptable comments, if it is clear it out. Get a Linkedin profile so employees can come to you.
As already mentioned leave the waffle out unless its relevant or you are, say, a volunteer or member of a board etc.

It's fine to go over 2 pages if you have 8+ years of work experience. For most they should not go over 3, although there are some circumstances where more is fine, e.g. academic CVs the contain publications or conferences. Teachers should include a teaching philosophy.

I hire and fire, 2 pages really is my limit when it comes down to first look through, use both sides

2 pages is the British standard - if you want to apply British standards to your recruitment practice that's fine, but others should bare in mind the New Zealand recruiters work to different rules. A 2-page CV for someone with good work experience will sell you short. 3-pages is usually enough to go into the detail required in the NZ market.

2 should be fine, even the government sites recommend that

Quote from the site you linked to:

two to three pages long
As a professional CV writer trained in NZ and Australian CVs, I do 2 for someone without much experience, 3 for someone with 10+ years of experience.

I've been applying for a few jobs recently, I've actually found consistency to be an issue - some places want the 2 pages summaries, others want every single detail.
