NZ Employment Solutions
I have a friend who is considering approaching these guys.
New Zealand employment solutions, run by someone by the name of Graham Hinds, based in Rangiora.
Does anyone have any experience or know of any experience with them, good or bad, PM me if you want to.
Would be grateful for any feedback.
Thanks
Paula

HHmm Paula.
I've taken a look at that site and it has little to no information on it about either the people behind the website, their qualifications or experience to offer any of the services, or the NZ companies they have contracted with. This is not what you want to see when looking to spend your hard earned cash on these types of specialist services. It also seems to suggest it can offer relocation service advice....for a fee..... and put people in touch with Immigration agencies but there is no mention of NZAMI .
If it is charging a fee for job searching & it does suggest that it will, then, as always, one should proceed with caution. There are established and professional recruitment agencies out there who are extremely experienced in recruiting from overseas.
Charging a fee for relocation services is OK IMO coz some people feel the need for that. i.e. Rentals, local information on schools etc.
The Immigration Consultant thing should only be done via NZAMI which lists the licensed and registered consultants by name and by business. Any Immy Agency worth it's salt will be known and have a proven , visible track record as per the Immy consultant that TeamEmbo used.
This post by Wiz n Ton who is a recruitment consultant is excellent.
The website seems to have only been going since June 08 & it appears to be registered to a residential address in Burnside near Rangiora with a residential phone number.
This agency doesn't appear in the NZ Company Office listings.
If it were my friend, I'd suggest they stick with known agencies with a proven track record if they intend to part with £££ or $$$.

You echo my feelings Bevs. Unfortuately my friend seems quite taken with them. He is a pom by all accounts who used to work for one of the big co's and has gone off on his own.
I have alarm bells ringing too, so I was hoping someone had some 1st hand experience I could share with my friend as my gut instinct dosen't seem to have much sway.
Thanks for your research though, your'e a star.

Re: NZ Employment Solutions
I can't even find the website!!!
I'm in Rangiora. I know of North Canterbury Employment Solutions, a recruitment agency that mainly deals with labourers, factory workers, manual labour etc. There is further down the townstreet another agent who has been here for some years who advertises relocation, immigration help, job placement assistance. Quite a few locals use them. They have an office in Rangiora and I haven't heard anything bad about them, but am not sure if this is the same company you are enquiring about.

Re: NZ Employment Solutions
I was over in NZ in Febuary attending job interviews that I had arranged myself. Russel Lane(Pegasus Bay Motor Co) who I hired a car from, recommended Graham Hinds as an agent.
After exhausting my contacts I then contacted Graham. We had less than a week to work together in which time he landed me an interview which lead to a job. The employer pays his fee.
I am moving to NZ in early June with my family. We will stay in a bungalow attached to his house until we have found our feet and organised suitable alternative accomadation.
Graham and his family extended a very warm family while I was last over their, and his contacts and advice has proved invaluable. I would highly recommend him.

Re: NZ Employment Solutions
I did not pay anything for the job posistion(employer pays him) or for his contacts/advice. I will have to pay to use his bungalow but it will be cheaper than paying for a motel.
Graham offers other survices which I did not use so I do not know his fees for these.

Re: NZ Employment Solutions
Hi guys,
Just to add a little weight behind NZ Solutions, my wife and I moved over in Sept 08 and Graham helped us with car hire, motels, rentals home, rental furniture etc, pet shipping, currency exchange and job search. Graham and Colin have both been amazingly helpful and they have both become good friends.
They are a new company and there web site has not been running long, but our transition into our new life was made extremely easy by these guys and we can only say positive things about them. And Embo you know me so you know I always tell the truth, nice clocks by the way!!

It hard enough coming over but working with this lot made some of the tougher issues seem really easy. You try finding a rental that allows a big german shepherd to live inside, these did!

That's lovely to read that your friends were happy to help you . They are your personal friends from before you moved out to NZ aren't they, or have I misunderstood from this previous post.
It's also worthy to note that you were also helped by BE members too re. pet shipping etc.

Matewx.
If you do decide to use this person , please do come back and let us know how you got on.
1 - If you were offered a quality job offer.
2 - Whether there was a fee or not.
It all helps .

Yeah can see how that looks.
For what its worth, I knew Graham in his previous life in the UK through work, where he was one of my customers. We contacted him in NZ when we were looking to emigrate for the obvious assistance (well you would, wouldn't you?) and he was doing all this. So we took advantage....
Whilst lots of people did offer us great advice through here, I can't take it away from Graham how much he helped us settle in those first few weeks... whether as a friend or immigration consultant. He picked us up from the airport, organising us a house to view that would take our dog (due to arrive 5 days later), car rental, motel, hooking us up with housewares, linen, white goods, orientating us to our new town, organising interviews and contacts for my work, being referee for our rentals, and picking up our dog and cat from the airport. It could be argued that a friend would do this, but we've met a fair few people through Grahams little social events that may well say the same.
Can understand the need for caution with something like this, but after having Grahams help migrating and meeting others who have, I'd be hard pressed to say anything negative about his professional services; you speak as you find. And he's a genuinely nice guy... reckon he'd be a friend to anyone he assisted to migrate.
Matt.

Re: NZ Employment Solutions
Hi folks. As a Chch based recruiter myself, I understand the concern felt for people making contact with recruiters via job boards etc. However, I also know of several 'good news' stories from just these sorts of contacts. If I were to advise anyone about using an agent to assist in finding emplyment, it would consist of the following 3 golden rules:
1) Never pay money to an agent to find you work - there are plenty of agents who will do it for FREE
2) Never pay money for 'part services' such as CV writing, career coaching, interview techniques etc - agents should be providing this for FREE, or you can use the myriad internet resources to learn about these subjects
3) Never believe it until you see it. Job offers/ promises of salary & wage packages - do not believe any of these until you see them IN WRITING, and from THE EMPLOYER. The agent is the facilitator, and nothing they give to you means anything until you see it from the employer.
More recently, do not accept assistance from a 'migration agent' without first checking that they are registered with NZ Immigration.
The RCSA (www.web.rcsa.com.au/) is the body that looks at standards within the recruitment industry, and prominent and professional recruiters are members. You can check on whether the agent you are dealing with is reputable using the following: http://www.web.rcsa.com.au/members/s...s?i=jobseekers
Finally, this post is not meant to piss on anyone's chips in any way shape or form. There are many top notch sole trader recruiters out there, but there are also many sharks who are happy to make people pay for the promise of work, and then not provide a service.
Before using anyone - large or small, RCSA member or not - do your homework and ensure that it is not you who is being taken for a ride. At the end of the day caveat emptor - buyer beware, and you really shouldn't be buying anything in this game. After all, this is YOUR life that we are dealing with.
Good luck to all who are currently looking for employment in NZ, and may all of your experiences with agencies be happy and successful ones.
Regards,
Wiz
