I remember the silver jubilee vividly, we had a fab party at school and we got a mug and jubilee coin.

I'm in the UK but have been to NZ, north and south island, so if it's OK with you guys, I'll join in your party.....but I must warn you, after about half an hour, I'll be lying in the corner completely ratted! My contributions.....

Brought back a memory of being a kid when we went decimal

Our local supermarket, Fine Fare, produced a flicker card, you know the ones, where you look at it from one angle and you see one thing, tilt it slightly and you see the image move. Well theirs had pounds shillings pence pence that converted to decimal on the one side and pounds ounces to kilos to grams on the other. It was very useful, especially for my nana.

I kept it for years, thinking that at some point it would be worth fortunes, but it was lost in one of my many moves, and then low and behold I was browsing through and antique, (sorry junk), shop in Woodville and I saw one! How did that ever end up here ??? (and it wasn't worth a fortune )

..........no photos as they are probably somewhere in my mum's attic, but I still have the silver Jubilee coin we all got given - and have added to this the Golden Jubilee service medal, and because I was still serving in Feb this year will get the Diamond Jubilee medal. I shall wear them all to the party... I recall watching the Fleet Review in 1977 and the street party where they gave me SPAM sandwiches which were foul !!!

I shall bring along a gigantic strawberry shortbread tower with lashings and lashings of thick cream - strawberries will be hand picked from the fields of Hampshire. I shall also bring along some home baked scones with raspberry jam and Cornish clotted cream - mmmmmmmmmmmm

And for drinkies, some of the Isle of Wights own Burts Beer.
