Just got up and looked out on Dunedin and its snow and more snow, cold southerly blast coming up from Antartic, nice ay ?? alright if you like skiing ay ??

Its normal for around this time of year but be warned all you people in UK whp think the weather here is different, from one extreme to another is about right.

This winter is starting out very cold. Last years was quite good but the year before was cold. We have been told to expect sleet here in Chc..brrrrr

It's glorious clear blue skies & sunny here in Wellington, & no wind, lol. But it's not likely to last the cold front is coming up from the deep south.:)

Couldn't help noticing...lots of brick veneers on those houses....hardly any in Wellington, all wooden. Thank goodness it doesn't snow here on North Island.

it doesn't snow here on North Island.
It does from time to time, depending on where you are, the Central Plateau gets a decent dump or two most years, ditto the Napier-Taupo highway and the Rimutakas north of Wellington. I have even seen white stuff on Mt Te Aroha, that would have been about 1977.

...and you might like to think about getting into the habit of saying "in the North Island" rather than "on North Island", unless you want to sound like a furriner. ;)

It is funny that you mention Dunedin, as that is where we are thinking of moving to, and I asked Ben if it snows ever and he said 'not very often' and you have just posted that it is snowing (I like snow - Big kid at heart :p )

And the thin is we are at sea level, well sort of, and normaly by the sea its to warm to get snow, Dunedin does get a dump of snow most years around this time, doesn't last for long, as you can get four seasons in one day here.

The trouble with Dunedin is its built on hills and most suburbs get some snow and then its all hell breaks loose, people trying to drive up steep hills, crashing into your car which is inocently parked, and not going on the road because you know how stupid it would be, you know those idiots who think they still need to go out, knowing damn well its dangerous.

Lea if you want info on Dunners then PM me.

Nige, Dunedin since May 05

Funnily enough during the Rugby Game last night they announced 'snow on the Rimutaka Road or some such.....I am quite happy to 'sound English'.....I am not here for good :D:D.

We had a good dumping of snow last night, and we're just north of Upper Hutt. It had all gone by this morning, but a quick climb up Mount Climbie and I got my fix.:)
