Tried to give you some k too, but need to spread it around a bit. We saw that on the first map we bought of NZ and it tickled our funny bones :D

Wahayy!! I've been to shag point.. saw the seals! it was a nice day there... apart from the fact that we were stood viewing the seals on a kinda ledge with no barriers with 3 kids under 4 with a massive drop :scared: talk about stress!

I was just wondering... all these strange place names in NZ... are they pronounced as they are spelt or is there some funny pronunciation I should know about??

"wh" is pronounced as "f"

theres a place called Whakatane and also Whakarewarewa.

Maori place names are often pronounced differently than you would think, the accent on the words are all in the wrong places it seems....
