Northern soul should it stay?
 

Hi
I'm unsure what to do with my turn tables and my record collection. I'm a d.j in my spare time (nortern soul funk ska & jazz) Is there any kind of scene over there (Wellington) or would I be better off Selling my collection (boo hoo).

If you have room in your container - bring them for your own happiness, never mind whether you can earn any money out of it.

I got some of my vinyl out on Friday night when I had a few friends round - with Hubby's portable record player (the sound is pants) but hey it's all good fun.:thumbup: Oh, and found my long lost Prince LP "Dirty Mind" which is NOT on iTunes.:thumbsup:

Wellington has a GREAT music scene with all sorts of music genres. Haven't heard much Northern Soul ehre but there's plenty of Reggae, and Beat music so you should fit right in. I get the expereicne that Wellingtonians will sample any sort of music so maybe there's a scene waiting to be started by you!

There's some really good local clubs here and I'm sure several would give you a spin on the quieter nignts to start with :thumbup:

Are you old enough to remember Wigan Casino? Ah I remember being at Mr M's till early hours as a 16 year old - it shut down and burnt down the next year (nothing to do with me :))

Bring it Bring it Bring it, we are big ska fans down this way, you would never forgive yourself if you sold it or gave it away, think of how you would feel without it:(

I don't know about Wellington but if there is not a scene you could always make one!!! It can be done. You could work 'magic' in this place with a good record collection!

Can't stick Jazz at any price, apart from maybe a bit of old trad jazz, but the Northern Soul. That should stay . :wub:

My mind is made up thanks for all the positive feed back. My 1's & 2's are coming with. I can feel a weekender coming on, full of like minded people dancers drinkers & singers. Bring on the soul & let the dancing begin
