It's now $2.18. So 8% increase over four years. Same as income then

In Sep 08 it was $2.02. http://www.nzs.com/new-zealand-artic...l-pricing.html

And I've recently seen petrol, here in NZ, for less than $2 per litre.
Not so sure about income: I recently saw details of 10 year old IT rates, salary and contract, in a recruitment agency. Rates now are less than they were then.

Not that I am particularly disagreeing with you, just chucking a few extras in...
It was 2.02 recently too and this was not particularly a low-point - having seen it at 1.96 for a period in West Auckland fairly recently.
Comparisons with four years ago - who knows, I don't - but they should be made on trends of course, which I don't have to hand.

There were/are no jobs to move to really for a plumber/gasfitter in this area so best to hang on in. It's precious TBH Same for all the tradies. Many lost their jobs and are scratching a living as one man bands.
I suppose it was a pay cut really as we now pay the licenses & for tools/clothing . He was given a 50 cent rise at one point and then it didn't happen.
C'est la vie. At least there is an income.

The average price for 2008 was $1.81 & for 2009 it went down to $1.61.
It has doubled in the last 10 years, it was just over $1 in 2003.
When we did our reccie in 2005 it was $1.25.

You can't compare UK Petrol to NZ Petrol.
UK unleaded is approximately 95 octane. Super Unleaded is typically 97-99 octane.
NZ unleaded is only 91 octane. Premium petrol in NZ is typically 95 octane.
So we get lower quality petrol here, hence the price is lower.
Another good price reference. Basic Cadbury's Easter Eggs in NZ: $14.99.
The equivalent in the UK: £1.99

I think you've mistyped. Having spent longer than should be allowed in Warehouse with my youngest at the weekend trying to decide how many Easter Eggs he could get for his $10 - I can tell you that a Cadbury's Dairy Milk egg was $4.99! Still more than Tescos probably but I would imagine the volume of Easter eggs produced comes into play to affect prices? At least my favourite creme eggs seem to taste the same

If W/H have them for $4.99 - I guess I'll be buying them there . Even better if its proper Cadbury's (as opposed to the Dunedin and Australia crap).

Any facts to back up that assertion? I can't think of a single thing that has doubled in price since the GFC (late '08). On the other hand, average wage growth has been in the region of 2% per year:

Another strange assertion. It is not, to the best of my knowledge, currently legal for the government of NZ (or any other country) to take 10% of people's savings. This would require new legislation in NZ (as it would in Cyrpus I think)
