Non-UK residents - tax etc

When and who did you notify when you left the UK regarding tax refunds/cancelling child benefit/getting interest on bank account paid with no tax etc...

Is it true that you can't have an ISA when you are a non-UK resident?

Is it better to wait till after April to claim an income tax refund?

Each bank is slightly different but if you have an online account you can usually find the form that you need to complete to ensure that you are not taxed for example at Smile bank it was called a R105. An alternative is to pop your UK funds in an offshore account which is tax free, lots of banks have these for example Nationwide International.

If you had an ISA before you left you have to freeze or close it once you leave the country. You cannot continue to add funds to it and you cannot open a new one.

We requested a tax refund as soon as we left the UK and had an address in NZ, which was August for us. I have already received my refund, it arrived at Christmas but my other half is still waiting and they were sent on the same date.

I will PM you a leaving UK tax facts doc hopefully that will help.

Hi Capuccino tried to send you a few document but unfortunately this email set up will not let me send these documents to you.

Hopefully these links will help you. Have a look at the IR20; the P85 and tax leaving the UK:

http://search.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/in...=7&mt=0&qt=p85

I am no accountant or tax expert but they helped us out. I am sure someone else from the site will also be able to help out. Good luck
