NIWA promises "Mediterranean climate"...
Long, dry spells are forecast to double by 2040 as temperatures continue to rise and New Zealand heads towards a more Mediterranean climate.

S'funny... All the 'born here' Kiwis I talk to are saying this summer reminds them of the summers they had as a child.
I was thinking the same about UK summers - I'm sure they used to be longer, hotter and sunnier.
I think it's just compensating for last year.

Sadly they weren't.
Well, not discernably so.
You weren't an adult and therefore didn't have responsibilities like working and all you did was knock about with your mates having a good time, whether it be indoors when the weather was rubbish, or outside when the sun was shining.
