I don't reckon so, have been here 6 months and very pleasantly settled. Do they actually have a definition of "newcomer", ie. do they have a cut-off point for the amount of time you've been here?

I found out some more info on this event:
An Introduction to NZ identity at Te Papa on Thursday 1 May from 5.30pm-7pm: This programme is to invite newcomers to explore NZ's history and cultural identity with a free, interactive programme at Te papa museum. This is a good opportunity to learn more about what makes New Zealanders who they are. Please RSVP by Monday 28 April at [email protected]
