Newbie needing info
Hello All.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I've learnt some really useful info on this site and had quite a few laughs as well so thanks for that. Really good to learn from ppl who have already emigrated because it seems like a bit of a mountain to me at the moment.
Just out of interest, if you have small kids under 5 and you wanted to go to toddler groups like in the UK, do they have them over there? Is it really hard to move over with small kids? I don't want to move and be totally isolated. I'm really scared of it all Can anybody help to ease my mind?
Ta very much
Mandy

Hi Mandie
I can remember posting a similar question about 18 months ago
having lived here now for 10 months i can honestly say that you have nothing to worry about.
I have a 3 year old livewire and there's always plenty to keep him occupied.
He is entitled to 20 hours free daycare as we have residency, which I use despite not working; I believe it's a good for both of us to have some time apart from each other with our peers
There's also an under 5 storytime morning at our local library, the local Salvation Army run a toy library which was agodsend when we first arrived as all his toys were on the container.
Preschool swimming lessons are also popular here and lots of parent and toddler groups and similar things.

Re: Newbie needing info
Thanks very much for that Sarah, that has reassured me on that score.
Yes, it is important for adults and kids to spend time with peers ha ha, not got any where I live at the moment as not long moved here and I'm just about ready for the nut house
Nevermind, I heard it said somewhere that overcoming your problems makes you stronger or something like that.
Thanks again, I have sent you some grateful karma

Hi there.
I can't help about the kids as I have cats and ducks.
Have some welcome karma anyway

Hi Bevs
Thankyou for that and have some friendly karma back.
I've heard that the top of the south island is the sunniest part of NZ, is this true? Is it really nice up there?, that's is one of the areas we are considering.
Thanks again.
All the best
