Hi my name is Colleen- I live with my partner and two children 12 and 9 years, oh and a dog! We rent a house near botanic gardens. Are there any meet ups due to happen soonish near to here? We have been here since January but I still find life quite daunting and at times get very lonely.

You've only been here 4 months so it's bound to still feel a little daunting. Give it time.

You could try posting a thread in the "Meet up's" section and see if anyone else in your area is around?
Best of luck.

Hi Colleen, welcome to New Zealand and the forum. Sending some newbie karma your way. I'm up for a meetup sometime next week while the kids are still off school. There's a few of us who meet quite regular, with lots of kids between us. Let me know if you are available and I'll try and get something organised. Carol

Hi Carol, We are away for a few days at the moment - not back until late Wednesday. Would love to meet up though - although not sure if this week is going to be a possibility. Where do you usually meet? It is lovely to hear about a possible meet up.

Hi Colleen, we usually meet up most Fridays, sometimes for walks and other times just for morning tea! We'll be back to our Friday meet ups when the kids go back to school. I'll pm you if you fancy coming along.

Hi Colleen
My dad lives in Manukau (born and bred Kiwi and proud of it
). I will email him and ask him about things you can do to meet people round that way. I know he goes to a bridge club, and he is training for a half marathon at the moment.
It does take time for people to start treating you like a friend, but to be honest I think that is the same anywhere.
