New Zealand Work Experiences
Tell us yours!
A couple of my highlight:
When I first came over I worked at an office where the fax machine broke down and all these baby boomers where quite angry about it (no doubt while the service company tried to track down parts from an antiques dealer). They also had shared drives that where backed up but insisted on keeping everything in hard copy or micro film as well, literally about a third of their expensive Wellington office space at that time was devoted to storing physical things they didn't need.
There are still banks it seems that can only accept numerical references on their deposits due to system limitations and require you to call first for large withdrawals?
Also this strange quarter of an hour morning and afternoon tea thing that old timers love, I'd never came across that before moving here.

Re: New Zealand Work Experiences
I find the lack of actual Terms and Conditions that we have to get signed by the clients are lacking in any substance.
All very casual for somewhere that is meant to be providing a service I feel the need for basic procedures is a must and the "She'll be right" attitude not appropriate.
I am in the process of getting that changed now that I run the place.

It's worth spending some crafting standardised T&Cs and accompanying contracts. I often see, even companies that should know better, voiding their own contracts or simply writing contracts that where never valid or enforceable.
A perfect example that happens all the time is putting guarantee, warrantees and T&Cs in a box with an item. There was no consideration so there is no contract.
