Hi abbas

I went to the NZ expo in Earls Court last year, shortly before we emigrated.

It was pricey to get in, and not as big as I expected - a room full of 25 company stands. The best ones - recruitment agencies, property info, immigration experts - were always very crowded but you could approach others with no trouble and have a casual chat. I found a good currency exchange (HiFX) while there (useful if you're transferring more than £5k).

Both of us got real value from talking to kiwis on the stands. Im an investment writer so there was no dedicated job stand for me - instead I approached all the financial companies, and even travel magazines. None of them had a specific job to offer, but we swapped details for future reference.

They wont interview you at the expo - it is not an upfront job opportunity right there. They are basically raising awareness of their companies so you know who to turn to first once you land in NZ.

All in all, its worth going because there are focused opportunities and you never know when fate may strike - but dont expect all your job issues to be sorted on the day. :)

Hi. I've been told that there will be reps from several medical boards and many other private companies and some will do on the spot informal interviews. You may not get a job offer there and then but could create interest and go on to the next stage after the expo. The employers seem to like being able to put a face to the application. I have heard of several people been offered jobs on the spot though so we can keep our fingers crossed.

I have also been advised that they are relaxed events, no need to go suited and booted, but go prepared to have an interview, take lots of paper copies of your cv (put a photo on it, if they've met you in person they can then associate the nice person they had a chat with to that great cv rather than it be in a pile of other faceless cv's) Also advisable to take it on memory stick too incase you run out, or to give employers an option to upload it there and then(saves it been in a suitcase for a week) if you make a real impression they can email it somewhere straight away.

Finally take notebooks - one for employment info and one for personal stuff. Plenty of pens and a good bag so you look and feel organised!

It is often the case that you are invited back the next day or a meet up arranged as the guys are here for a few days. You could also suggest this as then you could get more time, attention on just you and be very memorable to them than the many others.

Good luck and enjoy!:)
