Default New Zealand Inland Revenue

Hello all,

You will see from my notes that I am more often on the Australia part of the site, but it looks like things might have gone tits up for us on that one so we are exploring other possibilities.

Does anyone have any idea if New Zealand Inland Revenue recruits from abroad? My husband and I are both employed by HMRC (though we are actually very nice!) and are looking for sponsorship.

Any help gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Ren

Would you consider a switch to the "dark side" of one of the Big Four?

They are certainly looking for tax specialists...

Well its not beyond the realms of possibility!! The only thing is that, with the family in tow we would need real security. I might look into it though if I have no joy on the bright side.

Cheers,
Ren

P.S. I have just had a look at your previous posts and notice that they all include the word "tax". Is this your speciality or are you just some sort of weird fetishist

Well, what's worse:

- Admit that I'm an expatriate tax specialist....
or
- Admit that I have a tax-based fetish...

Hmm, I'm not so sure!

If you work for HMRC then it's likely that you could walk into a tax role in one of the major firms. It's worth at least a look in my book...and it did work for me, which is probably saying something!

Happy to discuss how I sorted my move, PM me if you want...

Good luck whatever you chose to do!

Second link gives at the bottom of the page a list of the 12 approved recruitment agencies that the IRD will take cv's from.

Hope this helps

IRD definitely consider applicants from overseas, and having relevant industry experience should put you into a stronger negotiating position. Like others have suggested, I would also consider opportunities in the Public Accounting field as there are a large number of opportunities there at the moment and scope for specialising in areas of personal interest.

In addition to their preferred recruitment companies IR also accept direct applications. You can find their vacancies on the IR website or the Government jobs website www.jobs.govt.nz
