New Plymouth

Hi all,

Long time no chat to with some of you.
I need some expert help from all those living in or around New Plymouth.
A friend of ours has just secured a job there and we are trying to find the areas to avoid.
The job is based in Bell Block  so I assume he would like to be nearish to his place of work.

All help appreciated......

By the way a big huge HI to all those who remember me.

Nici

Re: New Plymouth

Hi,
We lived in New Plymouth for 4 years, actually tried to buy 2 sections in Bell Block - no title on 1 and an 11kv transformer on the other.
There is a lot of new housing that was built out at Bell Block recently and prices have fallen slightly the past year or so - good time to buy. They have a small supermarket and a few shops and there is a dedicated Harcourts Real Estate agency shop out there. It is a bit of a hassle getting into New Plymouth now during rush hour with the new shopping center at the Whaiwakaio bridge - always jammed solid.
They have built a bypass around Bell Block now, so traffic is better. Close to the Airport (good/bad?) If your mate is loaded he can buy on the Links development next to the golf course.
There is also the option of using the back roads from Inglewood and Egmont Village.
There are also new sections out at Smart Road.
Hope this helps, Open2view and Harcourts have plenty to look at for houses.
There is a junior school in Bell Block, but kids will need to travel into NP for intermediate and High School.
Where is he working in Bell Block?
Hope he has young kids 'cos Taranaki can be very isolated, we found it very difficult to meet people, the locals are very family oriented so don't tend to socialise outside of that group - only our experience.
We moved to Wellington.

Re: New Plymouth

Hi there we currently live in Bell Block New Plymouth, we used to live in town but actuallt prfer living up here it only takes 15 minute at rush hour to get into town Bell Block is pretty self-surfficient it has a bakery a green grocers supermarket x2 libary, barber's, hairdressers, laurderette, and the good ol "Red Shed" it also has lovelys beaches and lovely people
the nearest big supermarket is Countdown in the Valley which is a 3 min drive down towards town and it's the clostest you'll get to shopping in a UK supermarket (bias cos i work there) but is is superb!!!

Don't know if your looking to rent or buy but the property's here in BB are pretty much the same as they are in town.

If your looking to buy then check out: http://www.nz.open2view.com/
http://www.realestate.co.nz/residential, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-property/index.htm and many more availiable but these seem to list all the properties availiable.

As for renting you can search: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-property/index.htm, http://www.realestate.co.nz/rental/a...mouth-district,
http://www.nakirealestate.co.nz/, http://www.quinovic.co.nz/, http://www.homerentals.co.nz/index.asp.
Hope this helps!
