The New Demerit Points

I see NZ government are proposing changes to the demerit points and fines for motoring offences.
At first glance, it seems by lower the fines but increasing the demerit points per offence, it can be argued that it is NOT a reason to collect revenue.
Total B*llox!
This country uses every excuse it can to gain revenue.
By increasing the points per offence, before you know it, you will be up to the 100 points, now what it fails to mention eer eemm cough, cough, is that it costs over $1000 once you have lost your licence to get a restricted licence...so they really are trying to play crafty aren't they.
The poor unsuspecting motorist caught doing a few kms, and by that I mean just a few kms 1 or 2kms over the limit, think they are getting a bargain by paying reduced fines, until that is they realise that they will be up to their 100 points limit much quicker and therefore have to pay the $1000+ to keep them on the road.
Crafty government eh?:frown::frown:
Not to mention they are now adding a few more offences to their list, one being the use of scanners....
But its not about revenue is it?
Oh no, they will keep telling us that in the hope we may one day believe them.:(
