New to BE

Hi all, newbie here :) Found this place when I was googling around to find out about renewing our British passports in NZ. Seems like they're going to charge us $350 each!! OH has mooted the idea of renewing them when we are back in the UK next year, but I'm not convinced that we'd get them done in three weeks. Does anyone have any experiences of either option?

Thanks
Iz

If you have friends/family in the UK you could just use their address and get them to send passports to you. We got our daughters done on our last trip, took couple of weeks. (but she does have kiwi one as well)

I was mugged once in London and my passport stolen. It took 2 months to get a new one.

A little ray of sunshine there for a new member - not.

As you are asking summat specific , I'll move this to the main NZ forum for you where more people hang out.

Other than that, welcome to our cosy little NZ forum and stick around.

A couple of years ago I did my passport online in the UK and it was delivered about a week later. I would be nervous about relying on this though.

Have a read of this. Looks like it provides some options:

Thanks for all the replies.

nelsonpom: what method did you use to get you daughter's passport sent back to NZ? Just wondering what the most secure option would be.

jmh: thanks for the link it was useful - I hadn't thought about the urgent application option. Though, iirr, my nephew had to use that a few years ago and he ended up having to stay overnight in London in the process!

We have NZ passports, so not a big issue if the UK ones don't get processed before we return. I really would have liked to enter the UK on my British passport, but it will have expired by then.

Thanks for moving this thread BEVS - hopefully it won't take me too long to get the hang of the best places to post things.

Renewed my British Passport in NZ recently, took about a week all up and then I had to send it away again to get the blue stickers put in but all in all I was very pleased with how quick I got the fully completed passport back.:)
