Networking with British Talent in NZ
Hi Everyone,
I am a new member of BE - although I have been associated with NZ since 2006.
Working in the IT sector, I have enjoyed certain roles working under/with British expats and Not certain others under kiwi bosses.
I also find Aucklanders to be more open minded than Wellingtonians - as many of them have worked in Oz, UK, etc.
I find it easier to reflect, empathise, understand and communicate with experienced guys from UK who value talent, specialisation and so called been there, done that experiences.
Many kiwis hate any suggestions regarding quality, process improvement and things often turn into an uncontrolled mess.
In fact, my success rate at job interviews with a hiring manager from UK is close to 100% as opposed to less than half of that with a Kiwi manager.
Earlier, the top positions were filled by mostly kiwis, however, in recent times, many migrants from UK are functioning as managers, directors, etc. with power to hire others as well.
I would love to network with any such people.

Why not start your own "Brits Only" IT company?
You all call each other "mate or geezer", affectionately call your boss "guv", import a fleet of Capri's as your company cars...........

As a Kiwi, I could have written the below about my experience living in the UK:
"Many Brits hate any suggestions regarding quality, process improvement and things often turn into an uncontrolled mess."
Which is of course entirely the opposite of my experience working in New Zealand. Generalisations are great for blowing off steam but aren't useful for much else...

Welcome to the forum.
Please be aware we do enforce an informal quota of only two grossly offensive stereotypes and a maximum of three blowing one's own trumpets per thread. As you are new and were probably unaware that's okay but just for next time.

There is one thing missing on this type of forum - "likes" or "thumbs up".
"Karma" just doesn't really seem to hit the spot.
Will have to suffice.
