Arrow Need somewhere nice to stay in Picton

Alrighty... for my 40th I decided we get to go to the SI as foot passengers, stay one night, wander around Picton, then get our arses back on the InterIslander in the early evening.

Anyone have any recommendations for nice places to stay, not too expensive, for just one night, within walking distance of wherever the ferry leaves us? 2 adults, 1 child.

Thanks chaps.

Heading there in late January and will be staying at a motel there. Would that be too late to give you a possible recommendation?

Afraid so! We're heading out in just a couple of weeks. Will we be there at the same time, I wonder! We'll be overnight there on the 24th.

This place seems to be coming up an awful lot. I almost want somewhere without a pool though, so the littl'un won't be dragging us there the whole time, and we'll actually be able to get out and see a few things. Won't have much time, but I'll be able to say I've been to the SI.

Try this one hun. You can't get much closer to everything that's happening in Picton

Seaworld, Play Area, Water Taxis for a cruise up the Sounds, Dolphin Trips etc all literally across the road from you and within site of Ferry Terminal too.

http://www.perano.co.nz/

P.S Really good eating places downstairs too so no need to cook

Well we're all booked up at a place in the centre of town. Nero it was HARD to find somewhere to stay this close to our trip, and some of them do pricing depending on how many rooms they have left, like the Yacht Club Hotel. $345??? Geeeez! In the end we've got a 2-bedroom place for $150. That's more like it!

Booked our InterIslander crossings too. Now I'm stoked! Not a bad rate either, just $131 each way, and that's for all 3 of us.

Damn sorry Sarah, you posted when I was busy on the phone! Those rates are "from" $200+. It looks dead nice, but in the end we just need somewhere to crash for the night. Thanks so much for that though! Next time...

Hi Maz

We stayed at the Americano. It's cheap and cheerful and couldn't be more central.

Gusto is a cafe opposite which does a great brunch. Le Cafe on the Waterfront would be perfect for a special meal, and they take the time to tailor meals for children. I also had a great manicure at the beauty/hair salon on the same side of the street as Americano.

Have a lovely time.

Alison

Alison, you are wonderful. Thank you SO much for all that! Karma coming your way. Le Cafe sounds like a great place for our special meal that evening.

Hi Maz we are staying at the Broadway Hotel on the 20th and 25th @125 per night for a large studio. In between we will be on the Charlotte Sound walking. So we will probably miss you - sorry about that. Have a great time celebrating your birthday.

Damn! We're on the Interislander at about 2.30 pm on the 25th if you were around and meet up for a swift coffee before we sail. Thanks for the b'day wishes!

Sounds like you found a good price for your stay, congrats!
