100+ naked runners wearing only carved pumpkins on their heads, ran a mile through downtown Boulder in the tenth annual Naked Pumpkin Run.

Awaiting them were several dozen police, who arrested 12 of the runners.
The arrested runners were frisked (the mind boggles ) and have been charged with indecent exposure. If the DAs successfully prosecute these charges, the streakers will have to sign the sex offenders' register and be subjected to psycho-sexual evaluation, which is, apparently, extremely unpleasant.

Just think, a few minutes of high-jinks could have lasting consequences for these people. No teaching jobs, or jobs which involve working with kids. No security clearance jobs.

I understand Boulder wanting to crack down on this, but really, where is the harm? The run took place around 11pm. There were no kids out to be traumatized.

Last year, I witnessed a naked bicycle ride through Denver. I actually drove past several naked people before my mind clicked that they were naked.
I'm all for capering about and shenanigans but I don't think I'd want to risk being put on the sex offenders' registry for a silly prank.

a friend was telling me that a local girl has been prosecuted and is being put on the sex offenders list for putting naked pictures of herself out there. They thought she was 15 or 16 years old and had sent the pictures via sms.

stupid definatly - but on the sex offemders list - bonkers.

Completely bloody ridiculous!

Have you ever had a look to see who is on the local sex offenders registry in your area? There are some definitely scary creatures on there. But there are also others, young lads that got caught with their underage girlfriend and her parent's got all twisted over it, reported him out of vengeance. It seems like a catchall for things that others are offended by.

They should have formed a pagan or wicker church and claim its a religious ceremony... try to claim constitutional protection! I am willing to bet that some of the runners will counter argue that them being frisked naked was 3rd degree sexual assault (or even higher given the fact that it was performed by a person in a position of trust!)

... taking a p!ss against a wall in an alley is enough to get charged with indecent exposure and be on the registered sex offenders list; (that happened to a friend of mine) who had to fight to get his name removed from the list.

As I said, its Boulder... a place where pot naturally grew in a flower bed on the Pearl St. mall & where prairie dogs have more rights than you & I.
