I'm sure you always wanted to know what to do when both your number plates get stolen off your car in broad daylight on a busy Saturday morning in town!!!

So I called the police, reported it as a crime, got a crime ref and was told to wait till today to call NZTA. They simply told me to go to VTNZ to get new plates! I wish the police had told me that on Saturday cos I could have sorted it all out in one day rather than driving around 'naked'.

$20+ later, I now have 2013 plates on a 1997 car - pity it wont increase the value!

I wonder if whoever stole my original plates had grand ideas for their usage like taking part in a big bank robbery!
