I still think that's amusing, but it's a lot more real for me now.

I work for a US company and thanks to their accountants, my role in NZ is set to be replaced by a role in Bangalore, along with the roles of five colleagues.

It's still not confirmed - I find out next Tuesday if I am coming in the following Monday.

No its happening more and more over here. Lots of outsourcing going on in order to save money on health insurance, paid vacation/sick pay etc.

What's really stupid is that I flew to Auckland for them last night to fix a server and I'm currently on my 22nd working hour today!!

It sucks Rob - I hope you don't get bad news next week. What are the job prospects like in your line of work? I hate these big internationals who come in to a country and stay only as long as it suits them. I know it's business but there's always so much fanfare when they arrive as if they're the best thing since the sliced pan but they leave so much destruction behind when they leave. It's not just their immediate employees but all the suppliers as well - the knock on effect is devastating. :(


I only know of one person who has had a pay rise this year - and it wasn't me :blink: :D
