Moving Dog from UK to NZ
Hello,
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but when I search the threads it brings up every comment that includes the word 'pet' or 'dog'. And that's a lot! Starting to prepare our labrador after Christmas for a long haul flight to the other side of the world. We met with Pets Abroad, who seem lovely. But before we definitely choose them, I just wanted some recommendations from people who have already bitten the bullet and put their pup on a plane. Anyone had any particular excellent service? Please don't tell me any horror stories - I will already be a nervous wreck when we have to do it. |
Re: Moving Dog from UK to NZ
not done it myself, opting to rehome my boy as he was 12 and had had a few seizures over the years. But have heard good things about Pets Abroad so think you will be in safe hands.

They are in Shropshire. I cannot remember who we used for our two cats. It may have been Airpets based near Heathrow. |
Re: Moving Dog from UK to NZ
Copied from my August Posting:
"In 2015 we brought over our 10 and a half year old cat. We used PetAir UK. They collected our cat from our home bringing a substantially constructed custom made crate after asking for a description of the cats size and weight. She was transported from Wales to the catteries at Windsor where a final health check was carried out. The following day she was taken to Heathrow and was accompanied until she was loaded onto the flight. We received a phone call advising us of her condition prior to boarding which was very reassuring. Her flight was via LA. On arrival in Auckland she was checked by a vet prior to being collected and taken to PetHaven in Pokeno, Auckland for the quarantine period. Pet Air provided an excellent comprehensive service as there is a lot of paperwork to be completed, PetHaven also looked after her very well and provided photographs and updates during the time she spent with them. We think the cost of vets in Auckland is very high, but we do not know comparison cost in the UK these days" |

Hello !
I am in the same situation, I have received a job offer to relocate in New Zealand but I am really afraid that something will happen to my dog during her travel. |
Re: Moving Dog from UK to NZ
My sister made the move with her gigantic dog just before Christmas and I am coming with my Staffie in October this year. I'll ask for her recommendations and about her experience and post them here. It all went very smoothly.
