Moving Costs
 

Hello,

We received a quote of US $4990 to move the contents of a 2 bedroom apartment from Virginia to Christchurch port, and $6095 from door to door in NZ. I have no idea of moving cost in NZ but thought the NZ mover cost of US$1000 approximately NZ $1300 seemed high. Any ideas on whether this is reasonable or suggestions on some good movers in NZ. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The NZ to door bit probably includes a fair bit of customs/MAF/clearance time/cost that you will need to cover somehow, how far from the port is the NZ "door"??

We don't have a place yet in CC. Just trying to figure things out now. We just got selected from the pool. Makes sense about the various fees. I may just decide to stick with one mover than trying to save a few hundred dollars by trying to look at other alternatives. Thanks for the advise.

Ah, in that case the "door" in NZ will probably be specified as within so many km of the port.
