Default A mouth full of bad fillings!!!

OMG went to the dentist yesterday
Lovely man who did x ray at no charge (check up was $80 though!!)
Thanks to the less pro-active NHS approach I now have so much work that needs doing i.e almost all my fillings renewing

Need work on a cracked tooth as causing pain

Anyone able to site decent priced heath insurance that cover dental? Southern Cross want $260 per month for the family

How much!!!
What would it cost just to get the work done??If you've got kids they can go to the school dentist for nothing so it might be worth just gettin insurance for the adults if you've got school age kids?

I keep putting off going & I know it's gonna hurt, in my mouth & my pocket too!!

We've got some cover through Tower, seem about average on price.

Does your DH not get any cover/discount with his new job??

I was very interested to read somewhere on a blog that apparently you are kept on your NHS list for 3 years!! So if you go back to the UK in that time, pop in for a check up & that will ensure you stay on the list for another 3 years!!

Hi
We have some dental cover with my OH job but I need a root canal which is going to cost $1600 and they will only pay $250 towards the cost . Has anyone else got decent dental cover like HSA here ? I was really shocked at the cost of dental treatment here a check up and polish was $220 Thank goodness I now have a job !!

Crikey that seems steep, mine was just under $1000 but I only had the amalgam crown, not the pretty tooth coloured one as that would have been an extra $1000

Hi Frenchy,

I would get a second opinion!!!!! There are many dentists out there who would say this just to get money.

This happened to us in the UK when we moved house. We didn't get anything done and when we returned to visit family we went to our dentist we had had for years, he checked and didn't need anything.

He has also checked the family prior to us leaving for NZ and let us know that nothing will be required for the next 12 Months anyway....just in case this happens again.

Cheers
