Default Motorbike license

Is it true that when I convert my U.K. License over (car, trailer and bike) that I will have to redo my bike test?

First time I've heard that one.

Just fill out the form and tick the right boxes, job done.

Well for me back in 2005, all I had to do, so long as it was done within 12 months of arriving, was do the theoretical, which is a mulit-guess exam. Which is nice. NZ really is a wonderful place to have a big bike. Most 1st world countires are saved doing the practical, so long as you do the theory within 12 months.

Have things changed then? Is it even easier now??

No theory test for UK licence holders.

No, they just give you the car and bike ones

The rules changed in 08 or 09. It became a straight swap (for brit licence holders anyway)

Nah just take your uk license in to an AA shop and apply for an NZ license. Hand over around $60 and take a simple eye test.
Car & motorcycle privilege will be passed over. Just make sure you check they have done it right on the temporary license you get as the lady behind the counter missed my bike privilege so had to do it all again.
I think it's only PSV / HGV stuff that needs theory and maybe practical tests again ?

You could just claim to be a Maori sympathiser and tell everyone you don't
recognise the white mans government, so therefor don't need a licence.

You might need to keep on top of your suntan though to pull it off
