Mothers' Day
Just incase any Dads are watching the current advertisements on the TV for Mothering Sunday this weekend from Mitre 10 and Bunnings.
A brief survery amongst my friends reveals that NONE of us want a tool kit, wheelbarrow (ready to be assembled), a label printer nor a fairy cake maker. There was significantly more leaning towards diamonds and chocolates.

Re: Mothers' Day
My OH was warned many years ago that gifts such as these are not acceptable...if I want a gadget for the home I'll buy it. Would rather a homemade card and a bottle of sparkly stuff for me to enjoy. He has however been getting the boys to say when these ads are on " mum do you want that tool kit or the iron or a blender " etc. Needless to say they get the polite no thanks but OH gets a mouthful later.
I am on an early shift on Mothers Day and the boys are away on a road trip with the rugby club up to Maheno ( OH is going too ) so don't know when I'll see them. But looks as though I'll be home first and therefore will be cooking!
Happy Mothers Day to you all

Re: Mothers' Day
It could be worse at least Mitre 10 do sell things other than tools, I laughed so much when I saw a recent Hammer Hardware advert with ideas what to get for mum - how would a new fan heater or clothes horse grab you?

Re: Mothers' Day
Just having a nose from Aus. In our local Coles supermarket they had a wall of 'ideal gifts for mum'. Included were the usual fluffy slippers, chocolate, etc but the bit that confused me was the row of 'Gents Pyjamas'. Why oh why does someone think a woman wants pjs for her fella? It's wrong on so many levels.
