Mortgage? Which Bank?

Hi just wondering what is the best bank to approach for a mortgage. Best rates? Service? How long for funds available?

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Hi,
we are with the National Bank but they are all much of a muchness to be honest, although our bank rates advertised are higher than some others they actually negotiate your rate with you so ours is lower than the advertised rate....hope that makes sense. We applied online in the UK, got approval whilst in the UK and the funds where there and waiting when we got to NZ.

If you can play them off against each other then you get a better deal. Remember to negotiate on everything including the rate e.g. reduced application fees, cashback for solicitors fees etc.

We went with BNZ as they tend to be slightly cheaper as they don't use the broker network and therefore don't have to pay commission to anyone.

There's a website www.interest.co.nz that lists all the diferent banks and tells you the interest that they charge. It's quite handy for comparing different credit card and savings providers too.
