Default Money transfer charges (HiFX to Kiwibank)

HI

Arriving in Auckland on the 28th and did a trial transfer to my new Kiwibank account from HiFX. Worked okay, but lost 25 NZD on the transaction which I believe in a Kiwibank charge. Does anyone know if there is a way to avoid such charges? or is this reasonable?

Cheers

I incurred additional charges on a HiFX transfer to Aus. Switched to UKForex after that with no issues. Aus version is OZForex - not sure if that's accessible in NZ but I'd suggest shopping around. The extra charge I had was routing through a third bank ???

International transfer fee maybe? Banks extort varying amounts to credit foreign funds even in NZD. NZ to NZ acct. should be free though.

SBS bank used to be cheapest but that was a few years ago. Nice little bank actually, my little sister did a first time buyer home loan thing a few months ago and they couldn't have been clearer or more helpful.

depends on how much you transfer over I believe. I have never had any charges from either side. You may need to read the small print

So long as you were transferring NZD into the account there should be no charges. I've used Hifx myself and wasn't charged a fee (and I bank with Kiwibank and was not charged by them either). I find for amounts under GBP8000 xe. com have better rates.

I had exceptionally good service and rates from Moneycorp transferring my house sale proceeds over (big amount) - no charge from Kiwibank to receive that either. Are you sure it was NZD that you were transferring? Sounds a bit odd to me.
