Mobile phones
HI,
am coming to NZ in october for 3 weeks holiday. Am setting up some job visits and stuff whilst there, and am also touring North island so thought it probably cheaper to get a NZ pay and go mobile instead of using my UK one. Must be cheaper...?
Anyone in NZ got any info for me??
Many thanks

However you could pick a cheap phone up for about $99 for a real basic one. Don't use Telecom as there are no sims. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing but you are tied to their network. We also have Telstra Clear but not sure about their charges. Hope that helps.

Re: Mobile phones
When we came for our recce we hired Vodafone SIM cards from the Vodafone stand at the airport. Our UK mobiles work worldwide anyway. You give them your Mastercard or Visa number to pay for the hire and any calls/texts made. I can't remember who much it cost but it wasn't very expensive at all. When you fly back you just return the SIM card to the Vodafone stand counter or drop box.

Have a look at http://www.0044.co.uk/NewZealand.htm . You can then give family the new number before you leave.
