Hi,
Does anyone know which type of phone works in NZ?
Doe sit have to be tri-band, 3G or something else or would an ordinary mobile do with a pay as you Kiwi tariff?

Anyway - my son recently arrived back from trip to UK. Whilst there bought a standard motorola pay as you go vodafone. Got back - took sim card out and replaced with NZ vodafone sim card - works fine.
Not sure if that answers your question.......

as said before it's Tri-band, but less choice of phone out here and quite expensive...well where we are so if you can bring one or two with you!

Just as Apple Tree said, bring your UK phone, whack in an NZ sim, and you're up and running.
They (Vodaphone and Teleom) have only just started doing free phones with a 12 to 24 month contract. To buy your own phone is flippin expensive so definately bring your UK phones, and start off with pay and go until you know what you want.
In fact, you'd probably do very well in buying up in the UK and bringing over to NZ a load of nokia camera phones and selling them on Trade Me - they go for silly prices! Wish I'd done that!
