mobile phone bands
Hi all, yet another question (I'll be glad when we are there, I can answer myself then:o) Me and OH have brought new mobiles here to take over there. I seem to remember that my old dual band worked over there, am I right or should we have got tri or quad band? Ta muchly, Bevissa

Re: mobile phone bands
Telecom - CDMA - therefore UK phones won't work
Telecom XT - 3G 2 Degrees - GSM Vodafone - GSM No need for a tri or quad band phone if you go with Voda or 2 Degrees. You'll need a 3G phone to use XT. Oh and of course you need to get them unlocked |
Re: mobile phone bands
You will only need to get them unlocked if you got your phone from the provider. It would be the same if you put another SIM card in another company's phone in the UK, they do it just to make it awkward for you.
If you bought your phone independently you probably don't need to unlock it, we didn't and ours work fine. To find out if it needs unlocking just put a different networks SIM card in and see if it works or not. |
Re: mobile phone bands
All GSM here is GSM900 - so a "single band" phone in UK-speak will work (except the very old Orange single band ones which were GSM1800 only)
