My friend's son, wife and little boy have just gone to Brisbane. He's a maintenance engineer for a chain of three hotels and he's on AU$42k plus a van (which broke down at the weekend when they were 100k from home). My friend is delighted because she's converting the NZ to AU $ but I'm worried for them because that's not enough to keep a family and I don't think they're going to find it as easy as they're expecting. But, que sera sera.......
I have seen many Kiwi's come back to find themselves downsizing homes etc after earning more money in Aus.
We have a few extended family members who are stuck in Aus as they simply can't afford to come home.
