Default Migrant Investment categories

Has anyone any experience of applying for a visa under one of the Migrant Investment categories? There are two options: Investor Plus (Investor 1 Category), and Investor (Investor 2 Category).

The one I am interested in is the Investor (Investor 2 Category). This requires the investment of NZ$1.5 million in New Zealand for four years (plus additionally having NZ$1.0 million in "settlement funds". I appreciate that these high financial requirements will mean this visa category is not for everyone, but I would very much like to hear from anyone who has applied.

As you say, probably not too many folk floating around having gone this route, so I'll move this into the main NZ forum for a while. More people check in there.
