Might buy me a new toy

1 Attachment(s)
For the first time in eight years I am looking at buying a new motorbike. I ride a full on tuned up sportsbike which I've had since new in 2005, and I brought it with me, but to be honest it's a bit much for NZ roads and I fancy something a bit more user friendly.

So I am having a test ride on something completely different next weekend. I promise not to buy a tasselled jacket  but it is quite a cute looking bike - I have no idea how I'll get on with it, but we will put up some piccies.

It looks like this. Will let you know how I get on

Let us know what you think, Cruiser style riding has its plus points, You do tend to feel more relaxed after your rides.
I found the feet forward riding positions took a little getting used to. I like the bonneville and thruxton too

My buddy in town traded his GSXR750 for the same in grey tones.
A revelation for him, absolutely loves it.
Must've given him a spring in his step cos his wife recently caught him on some naughty internet sites....., and he's well past the half century mark.

My mate rides a Triumph Speedmaster (and loves it), and I ride a Suzy Viagra 535. Have to say, changing from the CBR600 I had, was a joy. The CBR was nippy, but gave me neck and back ache if I rode it for longer than a half-hour hack. The 535 by contrast, while nothing like as quick, is just so much more relaxing and comfortable.
Particularly given NZ's scenery, I'd go for the Triumph over a sports-bike every time. And I'm just over the half century as well!
Hope you have many hours of fun on it. . . .

Go for it I say! You only live once!
I need a new toy too. Although mine needs to be a ride on mower! Too much lawn and not enough time! :p

I've been watching that one too but decided not to bother. Its a very good price for what it is (a collectable)
but TBH a gsxr750 k model will kick its arse from pillar to post

It's test ride day today. I have been excited all week.

And it's RAINING. I mean, bouncing down p*ssing down cats and dogs, you name it.

Oh well I'll just have to wait another week. Because of course, in NZ, all the bike shops shut at 1pm Saturday for the weekend

Hi, this looks like the right place to ask, we hope to be moving to New Zealand in the spring, husband wants a Royal Enfield Bullet, do you think, given the shipping costs, potential GST etc, he is better to buy in New Zealand, we have found there are dealerships he can buy from? Would welcome opinions (but not on the make and model, his certain on that!!) thanks!

I drive past this place every day on my way to work. it not a shop, its run from a house.
On the website he has all the models listed including the C5 Classic 500 Bullet
A brand new one will cost you $10000 + on road costs ( rego and first plates, about $400)
There are some older ones around (not many) and you could get one less than 5 years old
for around $6500 upwards.

I've decided, I found a bike after trying a few that made me grin from ear to ear and satisfies the requirements to be less powerful than what I already have but not boring :thumbsup:

And the lucky winner is

BRITISH

Not boring is right on the mark, have test ridden one myself, easily capable of getting yourself in to trouble with the boys in blue
if your not careful, A great choice, enjoy your new ride
