Midwifery in NZ

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could provide any info on midwifery in NZ. Hours/pay/job variations and descriptions. I am in the uk at present and will be qualifying in sept this year with view for me and my family to move to NZ within 5 years.

Many thanks,

Faye xxx

Re: Midwifery in NZ

If you haven't already I'ld recommend having a look at the College of Midwives website http://www.midwife.org.nz/

There's quite a few ads/recruitments for mw's in the uk mags with incentives/benefits on offer.

Maternity care in NZ differs a bit to in UK
The women choose their Lead Maternity Carer (LMC)
Some info http://www.maternity.org.nz/choices.shtml
(Independent midwives in NZ are free for women, not private like in UK)
