Smile Midlife crisis - good enough reason to jack in everything and study teaching in NZ?

Hello people,

Both hubby and I have been considering a move to NZ for the last two years now. Unfortunately, his line of work in the pharmaceutical industry is not aplenty in NZ (he has applied for a few positions and even travelled over there in 2003 to check things out but to no avail) so we're now considering a complete lifestyle change in that we would go to NZ and he would re-train to become a science teacher at secondary level which would take one year.

We're both educated people and our 2 sons (14 and 13) are bright and educated at grammar school level. We would support ourselves financially by living off the proceeds of our house which we sold before the market slowed.

One question I have is whether our sons would be eligible to attend state schools in NZ or not? At the moment, my husband is looking at Massey University in Palmerston North - has anyone any advice/input re this location?

Many thanks for any help/info you can give.

Only if you have already

1) Left your partner for a younger model

2) Bought a Motorbike / Boat / Fast Car

3) Started wearing the same clothes as your 20 year old Son

4) Grown a goatee

Yes i think moving to NZ would be the next midlife crisis step
