Hello to all you dads and lads. Don't miss this opportunity to get a free WOF/MOT at participating pharmacies. A stitch in time saves nine. http://menshealthweek.co.nz/free-health-checks/

Re: Mens health week
Took my blood pressure, weight, discussed lifestyle, smoking, alcohol, diet, anxieties, diabetes, sun exposure - general stuff. Didn't try to sell me any products, trying to get men to be more proactive with their health I guess.
I take it from your curt post that you somehow disapprove? Sorry for mentioning health awareness.

Time for you blokes to get to know your prostate
Basic information is available from lots of places but this is probably a good place to start
showing in the UK, had me giggling anyway
I've lost too many friends to prostate cancer in the last five years simply because they were too embarrassed to be checked up. Please learn how you can reduce your chances of developing it and when you should be getting checked.

Strictly third world, aka NHS. When I was checked in Germany he used ultrasound or equiv which gave a picture/dimensions etc on a screen. Which of course also removes the 'embarrassment' factor.

Been through all of that at Chch main hospital. Blood count, finger flow meter on urine followed by ultra sound on bladder. Back to GP for second round of blood tests, consultation and debrief by hospital doctor and GP, very thorough indeed totally impressed. The only check I miss from the UK is the bowel screening program which hasn't started here yet.

Don't say that on this board. Some will have your nackers.
This happened to MrBEVS here at our local surgery. He went for his WOF and on went the rubber glove. Caught him by surprise .
Lucky for MrBEVS he and his GP share a good sense of humour.
Odd actually. They can do ECGs and have a hyperbaric oxygen chamber which just sits ther but no ultrasound.

Luckily my GP is female with small wiggly fingers
