Default Meet ups in Auckland

Hi my name is Jacqui, my family and I moved to Auckland 6 months ago. I am working as a high school teacher, my husband, Tony, is still looking for work, my son, Daniel aged 20, is training for a job in real estate and my youngest son, Matthew 11, is at intermediate school.

The biggest problem I am having is finding somewhere to go where my eldest son can meet people. Is there anyone else in a similar situation? Are there any regular social events for expats? Daniel is particularly missing English football and having someone to talk to about his team, Liverpool.

Any advise would be most welcome,

Jacqui

Hi Jacqui

Can't help specifically I'm afraid, but have you tried this website. There may be some meet up groups there that your son would be interested in??

Get the lad along to one of the football clubs.....

Even old gits like me can come out of retirement and take a pounding "when Saturday comes"......

Check out:

http://www.unitedsoccer1.org.nz/content.aspx?id=31

for the clubs in your area. Te Atatu (Te Atatu Park), Greenhithe (Wainoni Park) , Oratia (Parrs Park), West Auckland (Brains Park), Ranui (Starling Park) all have clubs that are social magnets for football fans of all ages, abilities and persuasions....
We get plenty of banter from Pommie footie players/supporters up on the coast..........and there are a few supporters of the 'pool, along with the odd Manc, Chelski fan, etc
