Default Medical Notes - take or not?

Have just found out from my doctors to get a copy of our medical notes is £10 each and 35p per photocopy. Max charge £50!! Is it worth getting a copy of everyones or just get the kids? This will cost us about £200

our doctors printed off a 'summary' sheet free of charge , which is ok as we have had no major health probs.

We also got our notes free from our doctors and when signing on here in NZ they were very appreciative

Nor did we!

When I registered here ( just a couple of weeks ago) they said that they would just send for them. Not that they'll get much - I'm never ill either.

I would only get them copied if you have/had something wrong with you or if you've been in hospital with xrays/MRI's etc.

FYI: I work in a hospital and see what happens when medical notes/files are copied (mainly for complaints/legal issues - so the person would have a BIG file). I would say the £50 max charge is well worth it - but only if it's a big file. A lady has to take out each indiviual sheet of paper - sometimes A2 or A2 with selotaped add ons - photocopying both sides, and file it all the same as the original file. Sometimes there are about 3 files all of about 10cms thick - it really does take her days to photocopy it.

I think we'll have to take ours. Not just because of my c-section and near-death experience, but hubby has had some MRIs and I had a concussion and a CAT scan late last year. In the US they charge $25 just to transfer your notes to another doctor...
