Medical Imaging courses.
 

I'm in a bit of a quandary as to what to do with my life (again):frown:. I was hoping to get a trainee anaesthetic technician position at one of the Auckland hospitals but failed miserably. This has been such a downer for me as I thought that studying (passing) for two of the papers (off my own back & self-funded) that are required as part of the training would help, as well as my previous experience as a midwife (for 10 years).

I gave up midwifery 4 years ago now (I don't like the NZ maternity framework) & so some of the hospitals told me my medical experience wasn't recent enough :huh:.

I haven't totally given up my hope of getting a trainee AT position but they only recruit once a year (Nov to Jan) & of course my medical experience is even longer ago!!!!!

Hence, I'm trying to explore more avenues. I love working in healthcare, I'm a people person & have always formed good relationships with patients. When I was a midwife in the UK & if we had stayed I was considering doing the midwife sonographer course. Then NZ happened.

So this is another avenue I'm exploring. Just wondering if anyone works in this field, what their experiences are, any info about the training etc., etc.

Auckland University have just started a Medical imaging qualification I think its PG but may be worth looking at includes Sonographer also radiography

would of loved to do something like that and with your background you would be great.

Thanks ladies. I don't think I qualify for the PG course Janeyk, so it's looking like another 3 year course at Unitec :(.

Any Radiographers working in NZ? Wasn't someone doing this course? Maybe Zara's Dad :unsure:????
