Re: Med Costs
danni I am sure that's wrong - when I signed up at my new surgery even with a work visa I was given 'resident' rates as my visa was valid for more than two years. Now I'm on a residency visa and again everything continues at 'everyday kiwi' rates.
As a side note I have $25 per week (I had terrible teeth) and $10 per fortnight APs going to my dentist and GP respectively. It helps with the bills and means I can go without worrying when I am sick. Anyone who is able to do this should ask their practice if they can.

Re: Med Costs
We were getting charged $70 a hit for each GP visit initially in NZ. Even me as a NZ citizen!! I tried to query with the GP admin, they stated that the NZ govt do the reciprocal funding twice per year, which meant until the funding switched over we were charged $70 per GP visit. Just something to be aware of, not sure if all GP clinics do this.

I put $35 a week that goes direct into a savings account for GP/Dentist. I have similar for our old cat for the vet Soon mounts up and helps with the bills for that no end.
