BEVS, love your avatar. Rosemary for remembrance and the Anzac poppy. Lovely, very touching. I was walking through the park at the top of the hill where the cable car goes in Wellington a few weeks ago. A couple of the memorial benches had fronds of Rosemary tied to them, it looked really moving really good.
(Before anyone slams me by saying they were there for a reason, I know, I was just saying how nice they were.)

Rosemary is used pretty well exclusively in Oz for Anzac Day and poppies on Remembrance Day.
I didn't know that poppies are used in NZ on Anzac Day. When I found out, as it is a two nation event, I thought that combined poppy / rosemary avatars would be nice.

I hadn't realised until a while ago that rosemary is used in Australia for this day , so it seemed fitting to combine both.
In Karori cemetery I believe they not only lay poppies but also springs of rosemary on the soldiers graves.
Love the idea of memorial benches having Rosemary fronds on them. I shall look out for that here.
