maybe try new zealand!
Hi, we arent new to this site but are hoping to emigrate to Oz. Unfortunately we are having no luck with getting a job sponsor, OH is 49! So weve started thinking we may try NZ mother-in-law visited and thought it was fanatastic, have read up on this site about EWRB am i right in thinking this does not require payment in order to get your skills assesed? also is it the same evidence required for the TRA? would be very interested to know what anyone thinks of our chances! OH is an electrician. I know nothing apart from threads on here about visas, age limits, is it easier to get a employer to sponsor you? So many questions- sorry.

The process to gaining permanent residency in New Zealand is different to the Oz process.
Please read HERE for general info on the process
Try the points indicator to see how many points you can gain. [scroll down to the bottom of the links page]
You need over 100 to start an application. Some have this without job offers .Some don't. If you don't have enough, you will need to get an NZ job offer to make up the points. The more points, the better the chances of being selected.
I am assuming that you are a fully qualified , time served , UK sparky.
There are a couple of sparkies on the site that can tell you more about the H&S test and EWRB assessment process.[link inserted]

Thanks for that Bev. Just did a points calculation and OH had only 65 points but did it again with a job offer and it was 155. Trouble is now it will mean getting a job offer in order to apply, basically the same situation as we are in now for Aus. After reading the info it seems a more straight forward way of applying. Yes Allan is fully qualified has been doing electrical work since leaving school and has city and guilds qualifications. Would anyone know if getting to NZ is dearer than the cost for Aus. We have a migration agent so I would think we could just ask them to change countries? Thanks may do a quick search for jobs now.

Not being funny or owt but as he is an all singing and dancing sparky , you really don't need an agent. Save the money . You can do your paperwork with help from us lot.
By the sounds of it, you need a job offer. Lots of us now in NZ were in that position. We were . Husband is a plumber . We needed a job offer to help 'up' the points & so put all our efforts into that. Bingo !
Start a new thread in the main forum asking about how to get a job offer and tell people that he is a sparky. See what suggestions come up
There are a couple of sparkys here that may be able to help.
If you look on the immigration part of this forum , you should find threads about the costs.

Been thinking about this all day, it all sound so simple when reading about it! We have decided to apply for jobs in NZ, explaining the situation and see what happens!! Have thought that having gone through the TRA asses, for AUS, that we have all the documents, and with the aid of this site, that we could go it alone. Thanks again for your help and advice I know it's said on here alot but it's great you all take the time to help us all out. It is really appreciated.
